Dr. Ellie Dowden

People often ask me, “Why dentistry?” Like most things in life, my decision to attend dental school was a result of chance, opportunity and hard-work. At an early age, I became interested in a career in healthcare and envisioned a life where I could use my skills and talents to help others. After hours of job shadow during high school, dentistry felt like a calling. I fell in love with the idea of establishing true relationships and friendships with my patients, while being able to use my hands in an artistic and creative way. Influenced by my childhood dentist, I went full-speed ahead to pursue dentistry and am so glad I did.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 2014. This is an accolade I am proud of because it represents my hard-work and commitment to being the best I can be. Since graduation, I have completed numerous hours of continuing education to advance my education and am pursuing my fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.

What I really want you to know about me is that I love dentistry and I love people. I am passionate about achieving optimal oral and overall health and am committed to helping you do the same. I consider it a privilege and honor to work with people to help educate and motivate them to achieve their goals.

In my personal life, I have an amazing husband, Travis, and two cute dogs named Rocky and Adrienne. I am devoted to achieving optimal health through nutrition, exercise and constant learning. Being active is #1 for me. I enjoy spinning classes, running and yoga. I love to learn and am always listening to podcasts and reading books where I can continue to improve.

As you can probably tell from this bio, I love to chat. I promise to take the time to answer your questions and make you feel at ease. Years ago: my child had a gray area on a molar, off to the dentist we went. Gagging whenever anything was touching the mouth, couldn’t take x-rays, couldn’t get a cleaning, but it was easy to see the tooth would need a crown, a piece of it had already fallen off. Referred to a pediatric dentist. We ended up needing to have the child sedated, as there was no way they are going to cooperate even with oral medication and nitrous.

Today: minor cavity needed to be fixed. Child is older, so that’s a big part of it, but Paige and Dr. Dowden were absolutely AMAZING with my child and were able to get the work done using distraction and stealth tactics! Thoroughly impressed. My little one is proud of being brave and said it wasn’t as bad as they thought it was going to be!
